Journal #7 – Big Box Office Numbers

Over the holiday, it seems that many Americans spent time heading to the movie theatre rather than sitting at home chatting with the family, according to Sean O'Neal’s “Thanksgiving Weekend Box Office: America Gorges Itself on Patriotism, Vampires, and CGI Tigers” Article . To no surprise to many of us, Twilight was one of the top grossing movies over Thanksgiving, bringing in $64 million in just four days. Twilight was followed by Skyfall, Life of Pi, Rise of the Guardians, Red Dawn, Hitchcock, and finally Rust and Bone.

It is no surprise to me that the movie crowd grew over Thanksgiving. Many families probably hit up the movie theater to follow up on the ever popular Twilight Saga and likely brought numerous members of their families along with them, I know I did anyway!  The article mentioned that this Thanksgiving has been one of the top grossing for movies on record, but I would definitely have to think that the suspense of waiting for the final movie of the Twilight Saga was responsible for that. I haven’t heard much about any of the other movies due to the fact that I no longer watch much TV, but it is good to see that they brought in high profits as well thanks to the Thanksgiving holiday. After reading this article I am considering going to see some of the movies that seem to have such a buzz of popularity going for them!
